Hammerhead Shark Shatters Texas Fishing Records
Earlier this month Tim McClellen, a veteran fisherman, broke a Texas state record after catching a hammerhead shark weighing 1,033 pounds and measuring 14′ 5 3/4″! He has been fishing for 20 years but, during the annual Tackle Time Fishing Tournament sponsored by the Texas City Jaycees, he had the catch of his career.
This is one of the biggest species caught in Texas with the runner up fish weighing 1,129 pounds, caught in 1992.
The Texas City Jaycees posted a picture of McClellen next to the shark on Facebook:
James Massa Jr.’s 817lb catch took second place at this year’s tourney. Wow.
